I finally emailed this girl's shelter about...
They have so many different positions they need volunteers to fill that I was a bit overwhelmed looking through the online brochure. One of the options is to be an after school tutor. For a minute I even thought to myself, “Yes, this is it! This is what I’ll do!” so glad to have an option that seemed to fit me. They even mentioned that they had a big need for science tutors!

For every ludicrous reason someone finds to hate on Detroit, a local can find 100 reasons why they are wrong. This article in National Geographic is the most incredible read on the city I’ve found in quite some time, and gives the most compelling and realistic view of what’s going on here that I’ve ever read. So glad to call this city home.
